With the rapid development of the world industry, graphite has been regarded as one of the important industrial mineral raw materials at home and abroad. At present, the graphite dies are widely used in the following aspects:
- Graphite dies used for non-ferrous metal continuous casting and semi continuous casting
In recent years, the advanced production methods of directly continuous (or semi continuous) producing rods or tubes from the state of molten metal were promoted at home and abroad. We have begun to use this method in domestic copper, copper alloy, aluminum, aluminum alloy and other aspects . Artificial graphite is considered as the most suitable material for continuous casting or semi continuous casting of nonferrous metals. Production practice has proved that the thermal conductivity graphite dies is good (thermal conductivity determines the solidification rate of metal or alloy), the self -lubrication performance of the dies are also good,not only the casting speed improve ,but also we can do the next working procedure directly because of precise size of ingot, smooth surface, uniform crystal structure. -Graphite dies used for pressure casting
Artificial graphite materials have been successfully used in the pressure casting of nonferrous metals. For example, the zinc alloy and copper alloy castings have been used in automotive parts which produced by graphite dies used for pressure casting made from the artificial graphite materials .
-Graphite dies used for centrifugal Casting
Graphite dies has been successfully applied in centrifugal casting. The United States has used the wall thickness≥25mm artificial graphite dies to centrifugal casting bronze sleeve. In order to prevent the burning loss of artificial graphite dies, we can take certain measures to prevent oxidation. After casting a certain number of castings, we can expand the mold hole size to large size for casting big size sleeves if it is found that the dies has an inner surface burning.
-Graphite dies used for hot pressing
The artificial graphite hot pressing dies for hard alloy pressurized sintering has the following characteristics: 1).the required units pressure can be dropped to 67-100 kilograms force / square cm (equal to 1 / 10 of cold pressure) if the pressed temperature to raise to the 1350-1450 degree; 2).The pressurized and heated in the same process, dense sintered body can be obtained by short time sintering .
- Graphite dies used for glass forming
Due to the characteristics of chemical stability of graphite materials , less susceptible to molten glass infiltration, does not change the glass composition, good resistance to thermal shock of graphite materials, and small size varies with temperature changing, so graphite dies have became indispensable dies material in the manufacture of glass in recent years,It can be used as the dies which produce glass tube, pipe, funnel and other a variety of special-shaped glass bottle.
- Graphite dies used for sintering dies and other dies
It can be made into the sintering dies and the support used for producing the transistor according to the characteristic of the small thermal deformation of the artificial graphite material. It has become an indispensable material for the development of the semiconductor industry. In addition, the graphite dies also are used as cast for iron casting, the durability dies for non-ferrous metals , casting steel dies ,the refractory metal (Ti, Zr, Mo, etc.) with the cast and welded rail aluminothermic welding type dies.
